A few of us have arrived at the Glorious Motel 6 in Beatty and Rocky already has his Party Wagon open for business.

 We already have as many here as we had total this last year. Nice to see covid disappearing in the rear view mirror!

Rocky is giving a lecture on what would happen if a fire started in the lowland as opposed to the hills that they are all looking at. Currently there is a wildfire that looked like it might affect one of our rides, but I think they got the upper hand on it already and we should be good to go.


Rocky is leading the way to Denny's for dinner. He's in the middle of recovering from surgery and he is walking so fast that I'm running out of breath. What a show off! :)

Just a few of the folks that have shown up have joined the dinner party.

Actually, it may be everyone of us.

There was only one waitress on staff tonight and I thought she did a great job of serving us considering. I gave her a little extra tip.

On my way to Sherm's in Yuma I stopped here at Tacos Mi Rancho for a quick tiny bite to eat. This is the beginning of my Death Valley Trip for 2022.

I ordered of of the Ala Carte menu and I'm sure that it shouldn't have come with chips and salsa so I gave a little extra tip, because I think I ate most of them.

At this stage of the game, I'm starting to think my dietary goals aren't going to be reached on this trip.

My buddy Sherm absolutely blew me away when he gave me this little camera. I feel bad taking it, but I feel so GOOD that he wanted me to have it. Thank you so much my friend, and I really mean that from the bottom of my heart!!!

Doug and I have appointed ourselves as the North West contention of the Power Riders. It was Doug's turn to choose the ride and a fine one he chose. An absolutely perfect day at around 70 degrees and only three and a half clouds in the sky. This will be my last ride before I start pointing my front wheel towards home. While heading to Fishawk Lake, we came across this wreck. I'm not sure when it happened, but they are tired of people reporting it. Took a picture of the hay bales while there and got one of a hayseed at the same time. I was tempted. :) We're thinking it was probably stolen. Inside is full of trash. This Fishawk Lake security guy made us promise to keep this place a secrete. The lake was built 50 years ago but they didn't provide a means for the salmon to reach it. The NW contingent of the Power Riders met up in Castle Rock for a scenic ride into the Mt. St. Helen's blast zone. Unaware of the many dangers we would face, we soon discovered our first challenge would be trying to get past an angry Bigfoot! Fortunately we had enough tokens left to neutralize him with the armored vehicle. Our next stop was to inspect the sediment dam that was built to re-route the Toutle River from where the blast had changed it's course. Looks like it's still good. Doug is a little concerned as he approaches the bikes. It's obvious that Bigfoot has recovered and was messing with his helmet A couple small adjustments and it good to go. Okay, enough of the silliness. A result of the blast was a thirty foot deep deposit of ash, rocks and debris in the Toutle River valley. Rocky decided to ride home today. He felt like he was getting a cold and didn't want to ride home sick. Of course tearing out of the parking lot like Mario Spaghetti he probably just wanted to get home and watch the NASCAR race. If you need a small package folding chair, this is it. Cold mornings require putting on the heated gear. Almost ready to head out. Today is 2-20-2022. I posted a lot of pictures, but most of them won't be captioned but the caption at the head of each section will explain most of them. Eight of us at the top of Lida Pass. Views of the High Sierra's never grow old! The roads are fun too, but lots of cinders from all of the snow. If you see yourself in a picture, you can snag it by right clicking it and save. The fire got pretty close to Big Pine It burnt from Hwy 168 north as far as I could see. Burned on both sides of the river. Crews are still in the area eliminating hot spots.
